The Yarn

Made with love, in Peru

A rustic blend of silk noil, baby alpaca and Merino wool.

The heathered appearance of this DK-weight yarn is achieved from a kettle dyeing process that creates the subtle duotones for which The Fibre Co. has become known.

Adding luxury feel and Bounce to Your Knitting

Adding Luxury Feel And Bounce To Your Knitting

Named after the great Acadia National park in the state of Maine, it seems fitting this yarn has a rustic appearance, but an exceptionally luxurious feel.

The Beginning

Knitters were very fond of our previous yarn Terra, and were keen to have a similar yarn in a lighter weight. Acadia was born out of that request: beginning with the blend of fibres in Terra, we increased the merino content just enough to give items knit in Acadia a little deeper ‘bounce’.

The Mill

Whilst creating unique blends with fibre, The Fibre Co. founder Daphne experimented with extensive yarn dyeing when she was collecting fleeces, carding and spinning every yarn herself at her micro mill in Maine, USA.

The Palette

Acadia is made with a combination of silk, creamy white Merino wool and multiple natural shades of alpaca. Brown, grey and cream, are combined together creating richly nuanced dyed shades.

The Palette

This dreamy pallett of gorgeous soft pastel tones is what makes Cirro such a special yarn. Cirro creates a delightfully soft haloed fabric that is light as a feather and easily worn next to the skin.

Stockist Testimonials

A stockist story from Knitting Off Broadway

"Tundra is one of our favorite go-to winter yarns!"

We received a lovely review of Tundra from Knitting Off Broadway and just a few examples of which patterns their customers LOVE to knit up in our Tundra yarn!

“The blend of fibres are so soft customers can’t resist.  The hand dyed nature knits up beautifully, and since most projects are just one or two skeins, you don’t need to blend yarns!

The ‘Quick Bulky Cowl‘ is still popular!  It is an engaging knit with lots of texture and everyone loves an excuse to use buttons. The ‘Bauble Cowl‘ is another really fun simple knit.

However, the ‘Falling Snow Stockings‘ are such a shop favorite. Many customers learned to knit Fair Isle using Tundra!”

A stockist story from Spun

"I'm a sucker for color, and when my eyes landed on Arranmore Light, I couldn't turn away!"

Spun staff member Kate just finished knitting her Mariechen (designed by Isabell Kraemer) out of Arranmore Light. After an initial color quandary, she thoroughly enjoyed the project:

“My difficulty was picking which color to use: The subtle flecks in Riveresque that create a light blue with depth? The rich saturation in Meera that made me want to dive in? Finally I settled on the vivid melange of orange and pink that Orla provided, and the color kept me happy the whole time I was knitting my cardigan.”

And Spun’s Amanda just launched into her Cadadh (designed by Kate Davies), opting for the beautiful neutral Tallach so that her piece would have broad appeal:

“I am loving it! Arranmore Light is the perfect balance of rustic and luxury.”

“I love that the cashmere and silk add a softness to the yarn without distracting from the wooly core. It’s sturdy without being stiff, and it’s gentle on my hands, thanks to the stretch in the wool. I look forward to wrapping myself in this cozy shawl on a chilly day.”
