Whilst colour is a lot of fun to play around with, selecting colourways for a three-colour shawl can be challenging. Not only do they each need to complement one another, but the tones of the colours need be contrasting enough to pop individually.

If you’re not confident with using colour, it can be helpful to have a colour-minded person select them for you, safe in the knowledge that these colours will bring out the best in your shawl.

Abuelito: a triangular shawl, knitted from the top down, with a rustic lace border and a subtle tuck stitch pattern in three colours of Arranmore Light.

It was inspired by the kind of scarf you might find in your grandfather’s wardrobe and is perfect for those brisk days when you need some warmth around your neck.
