Austrina Pattern

Austrina is a lace yoke sweater with a relaxed funnel neck. Knitted seamlessly from the top down, the neck and yoke are cleverly shaped using needle size changes, wrapped stitches, hidden pattern increases and circular yoke shaping. Designed by Allison Jane for our brushed yarn Cirro, this romantic pullover is soft as a cloud.

YARN:
The Fibre Co. Cirro (40% Suri alpaca, 40% organic cotton, 20% Merino wool, 225 m (246 yd) per 50 g hank) in shade – Noble 5 [5: 5: 6: 7: 8: 8: 9: 10] hanks.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
Austrina is knitted in the round in one piece, from the top down. Neck and yoke shaping is worked with needle size changes, wrapped stitches, hidden pattern increases, and stockinette circular yoke shaping. Body is worked straight in st st, with a narrow twisted rib hem. Sleeves are worked in st st to cuff, then patterned as yoke at the cuff.

Note: When working the yoke, you will change the start of the round position several times. If it’s helpful for you, consider using two different colours or styles of removable stitch markers, and not removing the old BORm until the new one is placed.

The given sizes are called Sizes 1-9 and are recommended to fit a chest circumference of: 76-81 [86-91: 97-102: 107-112: 117-122: 127-132: 137-142: 147-152: 157-162] cm (30-32 [34-36: 38-40: 42-44: 46-48: 50-52: 54-56: 58-60: 62-64] in)

Finished chest circumference (at underarm): 90.5 [101: 106: 120.5: 131: 141.5: 150.5: 161: 170] cm (36.25 [40.25: 42.25: 48: 52.25: 56.5: 60: 64.25: 68] in)
Finished body length (from underarm): 28 [29: 30.5: 32: 33: 34.5: 35.5: 37: 38] cm (11 [11.5: 12: 12.5: 13: 13.5: 14: 14.5: 15] in)

RECOMMENDED EASE:
Designed with approximately 5-15 cm (2-6 in) of positive ease at chest circumference.

TENSION/GAUGE:
23 sts and 32 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st after blocking using 3.75mm (US 5) needles.
31 sts and 32 rnds to 10cm (4 in) measured over wrapped rib after blocking using 3.5mm (US 4) needles.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS REQUIRED: 

• 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round (or size to obtain gauge)
• 3.5mm (US 4) 40 cm (16 in) circular needles (or size to obtain gauge)
• 3.75mm (US 5) 60-120 cm (24-48 in) circular needles for working yoke and body (or size to obtain gauge)
• 3.75mm (US 5) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round (or size to obtain gauge)
• Stitch markers
• Stitch holder or waste yarn
• Tapestry needle
