Some say that there are no coincidences, that we don’t meet people by accident, that we are drawn together for specific reasons. The Fibre Co.’s founder, Daphne Marinopoulos, met Di Gilpin in 2005 at the first trade show Daphne attended to present The Fibre Co. yarns to the industry. Di was at the show for the launch of her Shore Lines collection inspired by Di’s experiences in the Scottish Highlands. The two met at one of the evening events where Di fell in love with The Fibre Co.’s Terra yarn and Daphne learned about the inspiring and beautifully photographed designs Di created for Shore Lines. It was one of those instant “friends at first sight” connections and the two have continued their mutual admiration and respect for one another’s work over the years. When Di offered to design these mitts in Terra, it was an emphatic ‘Yes’ from Daphne.
