Buji Kit

About Buji

Designed by Renée Callahan, the Buji tunic features a boat neck, short sleeves, and patch pockets that play with the colour blocking on the body. The knitting begins with casting on the stitches for the shoulders and back of the neck. The back is shaped with short rows to create the shoulder slope and then worked down to the underarm shaping. Stitches are picked up along each shoulder, and the front is worked down to the underarm shaping. The front and back are then joined with stitches cast on for the underarms and the body is worked until the end. Stitches are picked up around each armhole for the sleeve heads and shaped with short rows, before the sleeves are knit in the round until the cuff.

Buji is part of the Zen Variations collection of sweaters featuring The Fibre Co. Acadia yarn that embraces the idea that knitting is a physical mediation. Each sweater begins in the same way with a top-down, set-in sleeve construction, and then develops with variations on the theme of Zen. Each pattern has a simple, clean design to showcase the rustic beauty of the yarn.

Designed to be worn with 5 cm (2 in) of positive ease.

You will also need:

• 3.75mm (US 5) in a length to accommodate the chest stitches
• 3.5mm (US 4) or one size smaller than the gauge needle in the same length for rib trim
• 3.75mm (US 5) or size needed to get gauge for small circumference knitting
• 3.5mm (US 4) or one size smaller than the gauge needle for the rib cuff
• 1 stitch marker
• Waste yarn
• Darning needle
