About Fournaise Tee

Fournaise Tee is an elegant summer tee designed by Jennifer Kent for Interweave Knits Summer 2022.

Inspired by the restaurant at Maison Fournaise along the river Seine in West Paris, France, was the location for painter Pierre-Auguste Renoir’s iconic “Luncheon of the Boating Party” (1881). The Fournaise Tee features a mesh lace panel that covers the entire back and wraps around the lower body to meet the narrower front panel. The sides close with shell buttons that beautifully catch the impressionist light of every day.

This tee is worked back and forth in two separate pieces and seamed at the shoulders. The mesh lace back panel is wider at the lower edge and wraps around to meet the narrower stockinette front panel. The front and back panels are joined together with buttons that are sewn through both layers of edging.

Garment chest circumference (at underarm): 85 (96, 104, 115, 127, 135, 145, 156) cm (33.5 (37.75, 41, 45.25, 50, 53, 57.25, 61.5) in)

Recommended ease:

Modelled with 4 cm (1.5 in) of positive ease at chest circumference.

You will also need:

• 3.5mm (US 4) 16″ and 24″ circular
• 4mm (US 6) 24″ circular (or size to obtain gauge)
• Ten 1.5cm (5/8 in) shell buttons
• Stitch markers
• Stitch holders or waste yarn
• Darning needle
