Lady's Mantle Pattern

Lady’s Mantle is a radial yoke cowl that is worked from the top-down like the round yoke of a roll-neck sweater in The Fibre Co. yarn, Tundra. Lily France designed this cowl with short rows to dip the front and back, creating a cosy capelet shape.

The fourth pattern from our new collection The Almanac Series, a seasonal guide to knitting with The Fibre Co. yarns. This collection will feature a new design every month, and each in a different yarn according to the qualities of the yarn to match the season. Lady’s Mantle is our design for December’s Yarn of the Month; Tundra.

YARN:
The Fibre Co. Tundra (60% baby alpaca, 30% Merino wool, 10% silk, 109 m (120 yd) per 100 g hank) in Baby Beluga and Boreal – 2 hanks

NEEDLES:
5.5mm (US 9) 40 cm (16 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
5.5mm (US 9) 60 cm (24 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)

TENSION/GAUGE:
20 sts and 23 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over 2×2 rib after blocking using 5.5mm (US 9) needles.

Circumference at neck: 45 cm (17.75 in)
Depth: 29 cm (11.5 in) at back, 39 cm (15.25 in) at front
