The Milky Way Cowl by Bea Naretto is a deep cone-shaped cowl with I-cord trim and a gradient of rich, jewel tones behind the bright points of the light main colour, created with stranded colour work.
The Milky Way Cowl is the second pattern from The Almanac Series II, a seasonal guide to knitting with The Fibre Co. yarns.

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern, 5 hanks of The Fibre Co. Road to China Light and a free project bag.
The Fibre Co. Road to China Light (65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere, 145 m (159 yd) per 50 g hank) in Mother of Pearl (MC) – 2 hanks, Tanzanite (CC1) – 1 hank, Cobalt (CC2) – 1 hank and Apatite (CC3) – 1 hank.
The cowl is knitted top-down in the round, consisting of three striped sections, with a transition section in between each colour to create a gradient effect. The I-Cord Caston is worked in the main colour, while the main body is worked by alternating rounds of the main colour and a contrasting colour, so only one colour is worked per round. Increases of 12 stitches are evenly distributed every given number of rounds, so the bottom opening is wider than the top one. After working the main body, the cowl is finished by using the I-Cord Cast-Off method.
