CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
This wrap is worked flat and is constructed using four different pattern sections. Section A has a patterned lace motif. Sections B and D are striped and solid short-row sections, and Section C is made up of plain and bead stitch stripes. There is an additional single stripe of bead stitch placed just after the first lace section and before the last lace section, providing symmetry to the piece. After completing the body of the wrap, stitches are picked up along each of the long edges to knit a striped border. The short edges are then finished with fringing.

SKILL LEVEL:
Advanced beginner.

SIZES AND MEASUREMENTS:
One size.

Finished measurements
183 cm (72 in) wide and 27 cm (14.5 in) deep

TENSION/GAUGE:
22 sts and 40 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over lace pattern after blocking using 3.75mm (US 5) needles.
23 sts and 41 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over g st after blocking using 3.5mm (US 4) needles.

Our Cumbria Fingering and Amble samples used almost all of colours A and B, with very little leftover. It is even more vitally important to check your tension before starting to knit your Mullein because you may run out of yarn, or need to buy more if you do not match the stated tension/gauge.

  • 3.5mm (US 4) circular needle – 60 cm (24 in) or longer is recommended for the Short Row sections
  • 3.75mm (US 5) circular needle – 60 cm (24 in) or longer is recommended for the Lace Section A and Bead Section B
  • 3.5mm (US 4) crochet hook (for tassels)

  • Bead Stitch
