Portinscale Pattern

This pattern is available to purchase on Ravelry at the link below.

by Hiroko Payne
Portinscale is an obtuse triangle knit from tip to tip, with a self finishing edge. Sharing some of the same motifs of the larger scale Lingholm shawl, Portinscale proposes a simpler yet similarly elegant scarf option. Originally designed by Hiroko Payne in the now discontinued Road to China Lace, this beautiful shawl has been reimagined in The Fibre Co.’s Meadow yarn. The scarf is knit in stockinette lace, with a purl ‘rest row’ between work rows.

YARN:
The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% Merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk,  15% linen, 498 m (545 yd) per 100 g hank) in Cosmos – 2 hanks.

NEEDLES:
1 pair 3mm (US 3) circular needles with 80/100cm cable

TENSION/GAUGE:
24 sts and 48 rows to 10 cm (4 in) in Mesh Lace, using 3 mm (US 3) needles, firmly blocked and allowed to relax slightly once completely dry.

GARMENT MEASUREMENTS:

192 cm (78 in) wingspan along top edge and 45.5 cm (17 in) depth
