A quick look at our team calendar right now confirms it: this week is for women. Yesterday (6th March), Daphne our founder attended Curious Handmade’s Country House retreat to celebrate knitting in a room full of creative women, coming together to share their love of craft. Tomorrow is International Women’s Day. On Thursday The Fibre Co. team arrive at the Edinburgh Yarn Festival, a fibre event created by female entrepreneurs Jo and Mica. While at EYF, The Fibre Co. will launch their second Spring collaboration, The Waves Collection. This collection showcases the creativity of 3 incredible female designers.
It’s an exciting time and one not lost on a team that regularly coaches one another through school meetings as much as we do deadlines and tasks for work. Coming together and raising one another up is a huge part of The Fibre Co. philosophy. We attend events open to all. We read books about other female makers. We swap new to us designs from women whose Instagram feeds represent a happy place to be. To us, sharing online is an inclusive act, one in which we want to open our arms to every person and celebrate their individuality. When we think about new collections, blog posts or yarns, we want every person we meet to feel like they can create to their best potential. If anything we produce at The Fibre Co. can make someone feel good? It makes our day.
So be prepared for even more inspiration coming very soon. If you’re visiting Edinburgh Yarn Festival this weekend, please do stop by stand H-6 and say hi. We’ll have all our recent collections from April in Paris, Hikari and a special preview of The Waves Collection for attendees. We can reveal now all 6 shawl designs are worked up in our Road to China blend, both Light and Lace. If you wish to pre-order any yarn ahead of time, please do drop us a line at here letting us know what you need.
Oh and don’t think we’ve forgotten about the men who love TFC either….. have you seen Josh Bennett’s latest design for Vogue Knitting? You are all so welcome here.
