We’re providing light refreshments at our Open House on Saturday 16th November but, if you’re looking for something more substantial during your visit, there is a huge variety of cafés within a short distance of our Threlkeld HQ. We hope that these suggestions will help as you plan your trip.

1. Threlkeld Village Café
We can almost see this Café across the valley from our offices and it is known for its great views south into St John’s in the Vale (as well as its tray bakes). The Café was created as part of major renovations of Threlkeld Village Hall in 2014 and it is run as a Community Interest Company so that profits go back into local organisations and projects.
2. Fellpack in Keswick
Fellpack is a favourite spot for our Founder, Daphne as it is really convenient, right in the centre of this bustling market town. The slogan for this café cum restaurant is Fuelling Lakeland Adventures so you can expect hearty lunches and great cakes as well as evening meals and excellent coffee. Its location and the fact that it serves food all day and into the evening also make it a convenient spot if you’re heading to a performance at the Theatre by the Lake.
3. Cocklakes Farm Shop and Café
Any local will tell you to look out for the giant turkey if you’re on the A66 and looking for Cocklakes – and there’s a reason for that! The shop and café are hidden from the road but well worth a stop off, whether for something to eat and drink on the spot or as a place to shop for the best of seasonal and local produce.
4. Upfront Gallery and Café
Upfront is a bit further away from us (best approached from Junction 41 of the M6 motorway, near Hutton-in-the-Forest) but it is well worth the trip, especially if you’re looking for a varied vegetarian menu. As well as the friendly café, there’s also plenty of Gallery space and an amazing Puppet Theatre. Worth checking their website for what’s on but there’ll be a ceramics exhibition and local art from Green Door Studios at the time of our Open House.
5. Lingholm Kitchen
Daphne passes near this Portinscale spot on her way to and from work every day so it’s very tempting. As well as the Walled Garden on the shores of Derwentwater, the Kitchen has rapidly gained a really good reputation. Open from 9am every day, it’s a beautiful spot for brunch or breakfast and there’s lots of provenance information for foodies looking for the story behind their food. It’s a beautiful place – so much so that we used it as the photoshoot location for an upcoming collection!
