We love to discover new designs that use The Fibre Co. yarns and, just as much, to find new designers who are using them too. This cosy sweater pattern from Brittney-Jean Bailey uses our Cumbria Fingering yarn and really shows it off at its best so we chatted to Brittney to find out a little more.
Brittney-Jean Bailey is an indie designer based in the Willamette Valley of Oregon in the USA. The region is famous for its wines as well as its scenery and Brittney-Jean has taken the name of a local kiln site and Christmas tree farm for her latest pattern – Noble Hill. Knitted in our Cumbria Fingering yarn, her design has a beautiful braided cable that runs along the side seam of the body and then continues along the inside of the sleeve. The neckline, hem and cuffs also feature a subtle cable detail.
“My designs are all about timeless patterns for old souls and young hearts,” says Brittney-Jean, “and I want to create designs that are easy to follow and that encourage knitters to try new skills and learn unusual techniques. Knitting is a powerful skill since, as knitters, we’re equipped to wrap ourselves and others in warmth and in love. I loved working with Cumbria Fingering yarn and have received so many positive comments about it since releasing the pattern.”
We’re excited by Brittney-Jean’s designs and ideas and we’re keen to get to know independent designers just like her across the knitting world. It’s great to share our ideas and inspirations and we love to see the textures, shapes and variety that designers are creating with our yarns. Keep in touch if you’re creating too!
