Foundations is getting an update! Today we’re adding 18 brand new knitting patterns which include designs using The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering, Meadow and Road to China Lace.
Foundations is a design series for novice knitters ready to expand their skills and those already more advanced who would like to adapt patterns and make them their own. We like to think of you making these patterns and accessing the accompanying tutorials as enthusiasts, keen to develop new techniques and fibre knowledge as you add to your handmade wardrobe.
The 18 knitting patterns launching today include 7 new shawl designs and a variety of must-have transitional pieces for your handmade wardrobe that will take you through the last of the cooler months and into Spring.
You’ll find the 18 patterns split evenly between those calling for Cumbria Fingering, Meadow and Road to China Lace. These are versatile yarns that all have the softness and beautiful hand that defines The Fibre Co. yarns.
Meadow is a yarn for fibre lovers who like a treat on the needles and for their handmades. Meadow is the perfect combination of four luxurious fibres: merino, baby llama silk and linen, spun into a 2 ply yarn that’s slightly heavier than a typical lace weight yarn. This blend of fibres and structure makes for a versatile yarn that works well on a variety of needle sizes and a wide array of projects.
Cumbria Fingering was born from the love of long walks across sheep-grazed fells and valleys. Developed to be evocative of the mood, light and places that characterise the North West of the UK, Cumbria Fingering blends brown wool from English Masham with a fine Mohair from Argentina that adds strength, lustre and warmth.
Road to China Lace has a deep softness, delicate drape and lustre that really indulges the maker. Combining Baby Alpaca, Silk and Cashmere to give a fabric with a soft halo but enough definition to explore subtle textures and shifting patterns.
