Bassenfell Kit (Luma)

Bassenfell is an asymmetrical garter stitch shawl with three columns of textural cluster stitches. It is worked from tip to tip with a clean i-cord edging to give it a graphic feel. Originally designed for Cumbria Fingering, this new version in Luma has beautiful stitch definition and a generous, cosy feel that is much needed on cool Spring days.  A video tutorial is available for the I-cord cast on.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Luma (50% merino wool, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g hank); shown in shade Basil – 4 hanks

The photos show the shawl in the shade Basil. Choose from any shade of Luma as shown above.

Sizes and measurements:

The pattern is written for one size measuring 230 cm (90.5 in) wingspan along top edge and 42 cm (16.5 in) width.

Needles and notions required:

• 4mm (US 6) 80cm (32 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
• Stitch markers
