Description

Drawing inspiration from traditional Scandinavian-style colorwork, the Festive Mistletoe Socks feature charming motifs of holly leaves, mistletoe, and snow. The stranded colorwork uses only two shades per round with short floats, making this project accessible to beginners while offering a thoroughly enjoyable experience for more advanced knitters. Once you complete the cuff and colorwork sections, the rest of the knitting shifts into a smooth and relaxing stockinette stitch. Using three seasonal shades of The Fibre Co.’s Amble, these socks will not only keep your toes cozy but also infuse every stitch with the festive spirit.

This pattern is also available in a kit that includes the PDFF pattern and yarn: Festive Mistletoe Sock Kit.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Amble (70% Easy-wash Merino wool, 20a% Easy-wash alpaca, 10% recycled nylon, 325 m (355 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Appleby Castle (MC), Eden Valley (CC1) and Blencathra (CC2).

Approx. yardage used:
MC*: 148 [191: 232: 271: 322] m / 161 [209: 253: 296: 351] yd
CC1: 36 [42: 48: 54: 60] m / 39 [46: 52: 59: 65] yd
CC2: 31 [36: 41: 46: 51] m / 34 [39: 45: 50: 56] yd

*Note: MC yardage calculations have been based on the average foot length for the given sock size—if you are knitting for someone with extra-long feet, you may require additional yardage.

Construction notes:

The Festive Mistletoe Socks are worked top down starting from the cuff. After the ribbed cuff, the top of the leg is worked in colorwork. The colorwork uses only two colors at a time with short floats, so this project is suitable for beginners as well as more advanced knitters. After you are finished with the colorwork, the rest of the sock is knit in stockinette stich using the main color. This pattern includes a heel flap and gusset construction and a round toe.
