Description

Hodgsons Joy designed by Sarah Hatton is a pretty cardigan showcasing shifting bands of texture. Knit in Lore, it is a lightweight yet warm layering piece that will take the chill off Wintery days. The cardigan is worked in one piece from the hem to the armholes, then the fronts and back are worked separately. The three-quarter-length sleeves are worked in the round from the bottom up and set into the armholes.

This pattern is made using Lore by The Fibre Co., a 100% lambswool yarn that brings just the right balance of softness, warmth, and stitch definition to highlight the cardigan’s unique textures. Sourced and spun in England, Lore is a woolen-spun yarn with a lofty hand and natural resilience, making it ideal for garments that are both cozy and breathable. The slightly rustic character of the yarn beautifully complements the cardigan’s textural stitchwork, ensuring the stitches stand out with subtle depth. Whether you're knitting it or wearing it, Hodgsons Joy in Lore is a joy indeed.

A kit is also available for Hodgsons Joy in Lore.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Lore (100% lambswool, 250 m (273 yd) per 100g hank) in shade Gentle – 4 [5: 6: 6: 7: 8: 9: 9: 10] hanks.

Construction notes:

This design is worked from the bottom up in one piece to the armholes where the garment is then divided for front and back yoke pieces to be finished separately. The three-quarter-length sleeves* are worked in the round from the bottom up with their caps finished flat. The unusual stitch pattern in this cardigan is achieved by scooping a number of horizontal strands left on the right side of knitting. This creates a very textural, woven effect.

*Note that the three-quarter-length sleeves look like long sleeves on the petite model.
