Description
Designed by Crystal Hiatt, the Lithia sock design and name were inspired by a day spent in Ashland, Oregon walking the town, shopping and enjoying the beautiful Lithia Park grounds. The socks are knit from the cuff down with heel flaps and a check colorwork pattern around the leg. The right and left socks are worked the same and could be worked together. The cuff is created with a 2 x 2 rib and the heel flap includes a slip stitch pattern for good wear. The leg and foot lengths are easily adjustable.
Crystal hails from Winona, Minnesota, a small river town along the Mississippi River in the state's Driftless Region. Knitting and crocheting were first introduced to her as a young girl by her grandmother, Milly. She tried many times to teach her, but it just didn’t click. Crystal preferred to sit with her, listen to her stories and play card games while she worked away on her next project. Fast forward to 2011, Crystal was reintroduced to knitting by her lovely LYS and it has now become a part of her that has quite literally traveled the world. She has been known to pack more knitting than clothes on an occasion or two.
In 2018, Crystal began her design journey. She believes everyone deserves something beautiful to put on their body, regardless of size. Size does not define us. Named for her Grandma Milly, who unknowingly planted that seed for knitting and a love of all fibers, Milly’s Knit Designs accessory and garment patterns are designed with size inclusivity at the forefront. As a plus-size woman and knitwear designer, style, fit and comfort are important to her. Each pattern shares tips and tricks for others to customize and personalize to find their perfect fit. Her hope is that each maker will feel pride and joy while wearing their hand knits.
