For those who have mastered basic knitting techniques and are ready to expand their skills. Patterns may introduce slightly more complex techniques and patterns, such as shaping, increasing, decreasing or working multiple colors or easy lace patterns. The yarn weight may vary, and the patterns might introduce working with double-pointed needles or circular needles. Patterns will help knitters gain confidence and experience with new techniques while still working within a manageable level of difficulty.
Description
Pelagic means ‘of the open sea’ and is the design inspiration for this cozy sleeveless cardigan. The traveling ribbed stitches on the front recall the endlessly lapping waves of the sea, and the back is made up of stockinette stitches, combining to create a garment of contemporary style and ease. The front and armhole bands are worked as you go, so there’s no picking up of stitches at the end; just the back neck band is worked from live stitches and grafted once the shoulders are seamed, for a flowing, elegant effect.
Pelagic Cardigan is knit in Tundra, an irresistibly warm and soft blend of baby alpaca, Merino wool and silk. The sumptuous bulky yarn, the minimal shaping, and a deceptively simple stitch pattern make this sleeveless open cardigan a joy to knit.
