Knitters at this level are expected to be comfortable reading patterns, working with a variety of needle types, and executing more advanced techniques such as cables, lace work, detailed construction methods or intarsia. Description
Elevate your knitwear wardrobe with the Art Nouveau Sweater Kit by designer Elenor Mortensen—an elegant, top-down pullover that blends timeless style with thoughtful construction. This seamless sweater features a striking yoke motif with flowing lines and refined detailing, offering both long and short sleeve options to suit any season. Whether you're looking to create a standout handmade piece or immerse yourself in a satisfying project, this design is sure to inspire both the knitter and the wearer.
To bring Elenor’s vision to life, we've chosen a pairing of The Fibre Co.'s Cumbria Fingering and Transitions yarns. Cumbria Fingering combines fine Merino wool for softness, English Masham wool for rich heathered tones, and mohair for added strength and luster—making it perfect for showcasing the sweater’s detailed yoke. The addition of Transitions, a color-shifting yarn that subtly moves through harmonious shades, adds depth and dimension to the colorwork. Together, these yarns offer a beautiful balance of texture, drape, and warmth—ideal for a sweater that’s as lasting as it is stylish.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Transitions (50% alpaca, 50% Peruvian Highland wool, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g cake) – 1 cake.
The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino wool, 30% masham wool, 10% mohair, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g hank) – 4, 4, 4 (5, 5, 5) 6, 6, 6 hanks.
Yarn quantities listed above are for the long-sleeve version.
Colors:
The first photograph shows the sweater knit in Transitions shade Vesper Bloom (CC) and Cumbria Fingering shade Scafell Pike (MC).
To select your kit colors, choose Transitions for (CC) and Cumbria Fingering for (MC). These colors are used as follows:
Transitions (CC) — the color-changing shade.
Cumbria Fingering (MC) — the solid shade.
Tips for choosing colors: Pick a solid shade that contrasts in lightness or intensity with your preferred color-changing shade. Make sure the solid shade is darker or lighter than the color-changing yarn so the stitches don’t blur together. If you want a striking, bold effect, choose a high tonal contrast between the two shades.
