For those who have mastered basic knitting techniques and are ready to expand their skills. Patterns may introduce slightly more complex techniques and patterns, such as shaping, increasing, decreasing or working multiple colors or easy lace patterns. The yarn weight may vary, and the patterns might introduce working with double-pointed needles or circular needles. Patterns will help knitters gain confidence and experience with new techniques while still working within a manageable level of difficulty.
Description
The Dusk Cardigan is a loose-fitting, open cardigan with optional spine embroidery on the front edges. It is one of those comfortable pieces that you can throw over any outfit. The hourglass cables on the upper back, cuff and hem frame the large canvas of relaxing stockinette stitch, creating a reminder that there is time — time to add another stitch, another row, to the work we have at hand.
This cardigan is knitted in lustrous Cumbria, a blend made of Merino wool, Masham wool and mohair. This worsted-weight yarn creates fabrics that are soft yet strong, making it perfect for everyday cozy knitwear.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Cumbria (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair; 216 m (236 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Saddleback Slate – 5 (5, 6, 7, 7, 8) hanks.
Colors:
Photographs show the cardigan in the shade Saddleback Slate.
Please note: the grey cardigan sample shows an optional embroidery on the front edges in the shade White Heather. This uses approximately 50 m of a DK or worsted-weight yarn which is not included in this kit. If you would like the yarn to make this embroidery you may purchase another skein of Cumbria here.

This cardigan is knitted from the top down and starts with casting on stitches for the upper back, beginning with an hourglass cable across the shoulders. Once the upper piece of the back is finished, stitches for the right and left fronts are picked up from the cast-on edge on the back piece. After the upper parts of the fronts are finished, the three pieces are joined together and worked back and forth in one piece until casting off. Stitches for the sleeves are picked up along the armhole edge and worked in the round. The hourglass cable returns on the hem and the wide cuffs.
