Intermediate
Intermediate knitting patterns are aimed at knitters who have a solid understanding of fundamental techniques and are ready for more challenging patterns. Knitters at this level are expected to be comfortable reading patterns, working with a variety of needle types, and executing more advanced techniques such as cables, lace work, detailed construction methods or intarsia. These patterns require reading complex charts or instructions, offering knitters the chance to refine their skills and explore creative, sophisticated designs.
Description
Ennerdale is a classic cardi with a twist. Knitted in reverse stocking stitch, a variety of stitch combinations are used to create a ‘flower garden’ raised against the plain background.
Designer Jennie Atkinson says ‘I wanted to do something new with the idea of knitted flowers and I came up with the idea of using increased and decreased stitches to create a 3D effect. It took a lot of working out, but hopefully, using the charts and written instructions, it should be straightforward for an intermediate knitter to achieve.’
