Intermediate knitting patterns are aimed at knitters who have a solid understanding of fundamental techniques and are ready for more challenging patterns. Knitters at this level are expected to be comfortable reading patterns, working with a variety of needle types, and executing more advanced techniques such as cables, lace work, detailed construction methods or intarsia. These patterns require reading complex charts or instructions, offering knitters the chance to refine their skills and explore creative, sophisticated designs.
Description
Embrace effortless style with Gone to Seed, an ultra-wearable cardigan that can be worn as a light layer throughout the seasons. When buttoned, it’s a perfect backdrop for a deeply wrapped scarf or cowl, making it an ideal transitional piece you can wear throughout summer and into autumn. This drop-shouldered, sleeveless cardigan features lace saddle shoulders and columns of pretty eyelets on the body, evoking wheat, cornsilk, and the natural elements of summer's fading warmth as the seasons turn.
Designed by Jennifer Parroccini of One Wild Designs, this elegant cardigan is constructed with gentle A-line shaping and is worked from the top down. Knitting begins with two lace shoulder panels which are joined by a back neck panel. Then, stitches are picked up and worked from the top down for the fronts and back. The front and back pieces are then seamed at the sides, and stitches are picked up and finished for the hem, armhole trim, neckline, and button band, completing this beautiful cardigan. The pattern also includes optional chest shaping in four cup sizes, to fit full chests from 28–72 inches.
Gone to Seed is designed and knitted using Meadow, a rustic blend combining baby llama and fine Merino wool for softness, silk for its sheen, and linen for the crisp hand and stitch definition. This lightweight yarn is spun with The Fibre Co.’s trademark blend of luxury fibres, making this cardigan a joy to knit and wear.
Watch our live video recording here where designer Jennifer Parroccini and The Fibre Co. founder Daphne discuss the Gone to Seed design and the inspiration to use Meadow.
