Description

Reminiscent of the rhythmic lapping of sea waves, the traveling ribbed stitches on the Pelagic Headband are also found on our Pelagic Cardigan. It can easily be imagined keeping your ears warm on a seaside excursion, but would be perfect for any outdoor adventure.

Starting with a provisional cast-on, the headband is worked flat and grafted together. It’s made in Tundra, a bulky weight blend of fine Merino wool, baby alpaca, and silk that will provide lightweight warmth and a plump, bouncy quality for cozy comfort. Get your needles ready for this quick and enjoyable knit—you may feel compelled to make more than one!

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 1 hank of Tundra.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Tundra (60% baby alpaca, 30% Merino wool, 10% silk, 109 m (120 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Allium – 1 hank.

Construction notes:

This headband begins with a Provisional Cast-On, is worked flat in a Traveling Rib stitch pattern to the desired length, and then the ends are grafted together.

Sizes and measurements:

Finished circumference: 45 cm (18 in)
Finished depth: 6.5 cm (2.5 in) 

Gauge:

23 sts and 18 rows to 10 cm (4 in) in Traveling Rib patt after blocking using 4.5mm (US 7) needles.
