Description

Perennial is a cabled sweater designed by Norah Gaughan that originally featured in the book, Worsted, A Knitwear Collection Curated by Aimée Gille of La Bien Aimée. There are so many details in this pattern that you will discover something new every time you look at it.

Here is what Norah wrote as the inspiration for this pattern:

“I developed the central cable pattern featured in Perennial a few years ago during a deep dive into inventing cable stitches. The pattern resulted from searching for an easy, albeit, abstract way to represent leaves. Two over two cables are combined with twisted stitches to make the leaves and leaf veins.”

Perennial is knit in pieces, from the bottom up. The lower front is shaped with German short rows to be higher in the center. The body has an a-line shape, low crewneck and set in sleeves. Two over two cables are combined with twisted stitches to make the leaves and leaf veins on the front and back. The back has a straight cable panel, while the front cable panel expands gracefully to form a subtle yoke effect.

Cumbria yarn is an excellent match for the patterns in this book—with a stunning palette inspired by England's Lake District, and a stunning blend of the finest Merino, English Masham wool for rich heathered shades and Argentinian mohair for strength and luster, designs made with Cumbria will be worn with daily with love.
