Description
Inspired by the profound poetry and legacy of Sappho, this lightweight pullover drapes gracefully, feeling like a whisper against the skin. Its modest scoop neckline, rolled edges, and trim-fit sleeves make it a versatile addition to any wardrobe. The set-in sleeves and polished fit lend a sophisticated touch to this classic long-sleeve tee.
Designed by Elizabeth Margaret of One Wild Designs, this pullover is constructed seamlessly from the top down, both flat and in the round. Knitting starts by casting on each shoulder and working the shoulder and neck shaping, before joining to create the front and back sections. After working the armhole shaping, the front and back are joined and the rest of the body will be worked in the round. Then the sleeves are picked up, shaped with short rows, and knit in the round, and the garment is finished with a clean neck edging. This design’s well-thought-out construction is as practical as it is beautiful, with the pattern additionally including optional chest shaping and accompanying charts in four cup sizes.
Made using Meadow, a textured blend of baby llama, silk, linen, and Merino wool, this heavy lace-weight yarn was chosen for this design for its exceptionally light and crisp qualities. The unique composition of Meadow offers unparalleled softness and breathability and ensures that Sappho’s Love has a delicate drape and a smooth texture, enhancing its overall elegance and wearability.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% Merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk, 15% linen, 498 m (545 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Bluebonnet – 2 (3, 3, 3) [3, 4, 4] (4, 4, 5) hanks.
Please note: the pattern includes optional chest shaping in four cup sizes, where short rows can be worked to accommodate additional room at the chest. If you choose to work the cup shaping, you may need an extra 15–105 m (15–115 yd) of yarn depending on your size and cup.
