Description
Sea Haven by Jennifer Shiels Toland is a stunning textured yoke sweater and tee, using Gansey-inspired stitches to create a contemporary classic. This top-down in the round sweater has multiple options to help you to create the perfect sweater for your body and season.
The Sea Haven pattern allows you to choose from two versions, a short-sleeved tee, or a long sleeved sweater. Please select the size and sleeve option of your choice. This kit features our Luma yarn, which makes a lovely fabric for a summer tee in the short sleeve version, or if you prefer, make the long sleeve option in Luma for a lightweight layering piece. The image of the long-sleeve sample is knit in The Fibre Co.'s Lore, which is a perfect yarn for a cozy wooly sweater. We have also created a separate Sea Haven kit in Lore.
Sea Haven is worked in one piece, in the round, from the top down, beginning with a choice of two neck trim options, followed by the textured stitch patterns of the yoke. Short rows are worked to the back of the sweater before finishing the yoke to the sleeves and body separation. Instructions and guideline measurements for this are included. The body is then worked to the hem (straight or shaped waistline), where there are two options, a) a twisted rib, or b) a garter and rib hem (shown in sweater sample). Finally, the sleeves are worked from bottom of the yoke to the cuff. You can shorten/ lengthen this garment by knitting less/ more body length before commencing the hem. Try on as you go and adjust accordingly.
The designer has several video tutorials to go with the pattern: 1) German Short rowing, 2) Jogless Garter in the round, and 3) 1 x 1 Tubular bind off.
