Description

VestFlex is a versatile, cropped sweater vest with a modern silhouette. Ribbing at the crew neck, armholes, and hem adds subtle texture and a polished finish.

Available with three customization options including solid, striped, and colorblock, you can make this vest uniquely yours. Created with &Make Aran, the FlexVest will be strong and warm yet soft, thanks to the lovely blend of Peruvian Highland wool and alpaca. It’s worked in the round from the hem up to the armholes, then the front and back are split and knit flat. Your knitting experience will be more exciting and challenging with the more colors you add. Enjoy creating your own beautiful, handmade vest!

Kits are also available in &Make Aran for VestFlex – Striped and VestFlex – Solid.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. &Make Aran (50% Highland wool, 50% alpaca, 150 m (164 yd) per 100 g ball) in shades Silver Screen (A) – 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 6, 6, 6) balls, Mille Pink (B) – 1 (1, 1, 2, 2) (2, 2, 2, 2) balls, Smiley (C) – 1 ball, Hyper Blue (D) – 1 ball, and Indigo Child (E) – 1 ball.

Please note: to make the colorblock version with only one contrast color, you will need 3 (4, 4, 4, 5) (5, 6, 6, 6) balls of your main color choice, and 2 (2, 2, 2, 3) (3, 3, 3, 3) balls of your single contrast color in total for the hem, armholes, and neck.

Construction notes:

The VestFlex is worked in the round from the hem up to the armholes. Then, the front and back pieces are split and knitted flat separately up to the shoulder edges. The hem is worked in 2x2 ribbing and the body is worked in Stockinette Stitch. Shoulders are joined using Mattress Stitch. Stitches are picked up and knit for the 2x2 neck and armhole ribbing.
