For those who have mastered basic knitting techniques and are ready to expand their skills. Patterns may introduce slightly more complex techniques and patterns, such as shaping, increasing, decreasing or working multiple colors or easy lace patterns. The yarn weight may vary, and the patterns might introduce working with double-pointed needles or circular needles. Patterns will help knitters gain confidence and experience with new techniques while still working within a manageable level of difficulty.

This boxy sweater is knitted top-down following a simple stripe pattern. First, the back and front are worked flat to the underarm. Then, both sections are joined together and the sweater is worked top-down seamlessly in the rnd to the end. Short row shaping is incorporated at the shoulders for an improved fit. Then, stitches are picked up at the front and back shoulders, and a gusset and saddle seam are worked at the shoulders. Lastly, stitches are picked up around the armhole for the sleeves and these are worked seamlessly in the rnd to the end.
