Creating a stretchy i-cord edge On Rows 3 and 4 of the shawl body you add a yfwd at the start of the row. This ywfd is then dropped on the following row, Rows 4 and 5 respectively. This gives the i-cord edge the extra stretch needed to sit neatly along the garter stitch body.

These yfwd’s are not included in the stitch counts given as they are dropped on the following row.

There were several corrections and clarifications made throughout the pattern, and the most major changes were as follows:
  • The yarn quantity for Calm (A) should be 4 [4: 5: 5: 6: 6] hanks, instead of 3 [3: 4: 4: 5: 5] hanks.
  • The final sentence in the ‘Yoke Chart’ section on page 3 was removed, as not all charts are worked from the top down.
  • The Note for the ‘Chart D Option Only’ section on page 3 was re-written.
  • In the ‘Dividing for Body and Sleeves’ section on page 3, it should say ‘Center Pattern’ instead of ‘Center Pattern Rnd’.
  • Also in that section, the ‘Next rnd’ at the bottom of the page, should be ‘Dividing Rnd’ instead and under the heading ‘All Sizes’. The directions in this paragraph was re-written too.
  • In both the ‘Body’ and ‘Sleeves’ sections on page 3, it is incorrect where it says to ‘match up the diamond pattern with the yoke’. The diamond pattern should actually be centered on the single color B stitch from Round 41 of Chart A.
  • All the charts on page 5 have changed – row 1 is actually at the bottom which wasn’t shown before.
