Description

The Tranquil Twin Set is designed for practical elegance and ease of wear. Comprising a matching cardigan and camisole, both pieces are knit seamlessly. The charted lace pattern runs along the length of balloon sleeves of the cardigan and around the hem of the camisole. The cardigan’s neat, ribbed borders and the camisole’s clean i-cord edges ensure a polished finish.

These pieces are knitted using The Fibre Co.’s Luma, a yarn blend that combines Merino wool, organic cotton, linen, and silk. The choice of yarn ensures that the twin set is not only soft and comfortable but also lightweight and suitable for warmer seasons, aligning with the summer-inspired design. Choose the Tranquil Twin Set for a knitting project that balances detailed design with wearable practicality.

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 12–24 hanks of Luma.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Luma (50% Merino wool, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g hank) in shade Stonewash – 8 [9: 10: 11: 12: 13: 14: 15: 16] hanks for the cardigan and – 4 [4: 5: 6: 6: 7: 7: 8: 8] hanks for the camisole.

Construction notes:

The V-neck cardigan is knit flat seamlessly from the top down with a raglan-style yoke construction and balloon sleeves. The 1x1 ribbed collar is worked first, followed by the raglan yoke, which showcases the start of the cardigan’s stunning lace pattern. Once the underarm is reached, the sleeve stitches are placed on hold. The body is continued in stockinette stitch and finished with a 1x1 ribbed hem. The sleeves are then worked top down in the round, where the lace work sits centrally and continues to the ribbed cuff.

The ribbed edging of the cardigan is added last, working on one side at a time by picking up stitches along the body edge towards the collar. Stitches are then picked up along the collar’s vertical edge to form a seamless join. The ribbed edging is worked using a small amount of short row shaping at the edges that connect with the collar so that the finished ribbed edging appears to flow seamlessly from the collar.

The matching camisole is knit from the bottom up, seamlessly in the round, to the underarm. The work is then divided and the front and back sections are worked flat with neck and arm shaping. After grafting the shoulder straps together, an i-cord edge is added to the neckline and arm openings.

The pattern includes two charts for the lace stitch: one for the cardigan and one for the camisole.
