Winter Walkway Set Pattern

This matching headband and neck warmer set is a colorful winter accessory that includes three different stripe designs all in one pattern. It is the perfect gift as you can get many headbands and neck warmers out of just a few balls of &Make! The fun stripe options are a great way for beginner knitters to try working stripes in the round, and in a small project.

Knitted in our &Make Aran yarn this set uses four balls to make all of the three headband and neck warmer sets. Made from a fine blend of Highland wool and alpaca, the Winter Walkway Set will keep you feeling both warm and colorful in any season.

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 4 balls of &Make Aran yarn.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. &Make Aran (50% Highland wool, 50% alpaca, 150 m (164 yd) per 100 g ball) in shades Careless Whisper (A) – 1 ball, Hyper Blue (B) – 1 ball, Indigo Child (C) – 1 ball, and Lit (D) – 1 ball.

Construction notes:

The Winter Walkway Set headbands and neck warmers are knit seamlessly in the round from the bottom up. An all-over 1x1 ribbing pattern is worked with three stripe options to follow. A Long Tail Tubular Cast-On and Tubular Cast-Off are worked to allow decent stretch and a neat finish to the ribbing.

The given sizes are called Sizes 1-6 and are recommended to fit an actual head circumference of: 35-40 (40-45, 45-50, 50-55, 55-60, 60-65) cm [14-16 (16-18, 18-20, 20-22, 22-23.5, 23.5-25.5) in].
Finished headband circumference: 28 (30, 36, 39, 43, 47) cm [11 (12, 14.5, 15.5, 17, 18.5) in]
Finished headband height: 11 cm (4.5 in)

Neck Warmer

Finished neck warmer circumference: 51 cm (20.5 in)
Finished neck warmer height: 21 cm (8.5 in)

Recommended ease:

The Winter Walkway Headband is designed with 6–16 cm (2–6 in) of negative ease at head circumference.

Gauge:

21 stitches and 27 rounds to 10 cm (4 inches) measured over 1x1 rib after blocking using your main needles.
