Description
Astro Pop by Marie Greene is a lightweight, short-sleeve tee featuring a striking zig-zag striped yoke and delicate lace details along the sides of the body. Worked seamlessly from the top down, it begins with short row shaping at the back neck for a comfortable fit, then flows into an engaging yoke pattern using a larger needle to preserve gauge across textures. The body is knit in the round after the sleeve separation, keeping the process smooth and satisfying, with the sleeves picked up and finished last. This modern take on a vintage classic is designed with both flair and wearability in mind, effortlessly slotting into a handmade wardrobe—ideal for layering or wearing solo on warmer days.
The Fibre Co. &Make DK is a smooth, round yarn with excellent stitch definition that makes Astro Pop's zig-zag stripes and lace sing. Made from an airy blend of Peruvian Highland wool, alpaca, and linen, it's soft hand and gentle bounce lend just the right amount of structure to the tee, giving it beautiful drape without clinging. The natural fibers create a breathable fabric that’s ideal for layering, making it the perfect year-round companion.
Astro Pop kits are also available in Luma and Acadia.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. &Make DK (55% Highland wool, 35% alpaca, 10% linen, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g ball) in shades Wink (MC) – 5 (6, 6, 6, 7, 7, 8, 9, 10) balls, Betty White (CC) – 2 (2, 2, 2, 2, 3, 3, 3, 3) balls and Lit (AC) – 1 ball (all sizes).
Colors:
Photographs show the tee with the white yoke is knit using shades Wink (MC), Betty White (CC) and Lit (AC). The sample with the blue yoke (modeled) is knit using shades Hyper Blue (MC), Potion (CC) and Careless Whisper (AC).
To help choose your kit colors, select color 1 for the Main Color (MC), color 2 for the Contrast Color (CC), and color 3 for the Accent Color (AC). These colors are used as follows:
Color 1 (MC) – used on the lower body.
Tips for choosing the Main Color: Darker shades work well here, since they’re lower on the body and often create a flattering silhouette. But “darker” doesn’t have to mean boring. Think BOLD, FUN colors that you might love, but may not necessarily want next to their faces.
Color 2 (CC) – used on the yoke.
Tips for choosing the Contrast Color: Neutrals, light colors, and colors we want closer to our faces work best here.
Color 3 (AC) – used in the zig-zag pattern.
Tips for the Accent Color: This color should stand out from the other two and will be used on the zig-zag pattern on the yoke.
