Echoing the essence of summer, the Serenity Tunic is a celebration of lightweight elegance combined with casual comfort. The tunic features a lovely lace pattern around the yoke, a detail that is repeated along the bottom sides. Narrow bands of garter stitch finish the sleeve and hem edges, while a neat I-cord cast-off at the neckline emphasizes its polished finish. The design is knitted seamlessly in the round from the bottom up.

YARN:
The Fibre Co. Luma (50% Merino wool, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g hank) in shade Plum – 7 [8: 9: 10: 11: 11: 12: 13: 14] hanks.

CONSTRUCTION NOTES:
This flared tunic is knitted bottom up seamlessly in the round. The sleeves are cast on provisionally and joined to the body at the underarm for the circular yoke. Short rows are incorporated into the yoke for improved neck and shoulder fit. After completing the yoke, the sleeves are finished from the top down, allowing easily customizable sleeve lengths. The sleeves and hem include a garter trim while the neckline is finished with an I-Cord Cast-Off. The lace inserts for the body and yoke are charted.

Photographs show the garment knit in Size 3 on a model with a chest circumference of 94 cm (37 in).

RECOMMENDED EASE:
Designed with 0–4.5 cm (0–2.25 in) of positive ease at the chest circumference.

TENSION/GAUGE:
23 sts and 37 rounds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st after blocking using 2.75mm (US 2) needles.
The lace panel (20 sts) measures 9.5 cm (3.75 in) wide.

NEEDLES AND NOTIONS REQUIRED:

  • 2.75mm (US 2) circular needle in length smaller than finished circumference (or size to obtain gauge)
  • 2.75mm (US 2) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round
  • Stitch markers
  • Stitch holders or waste yarn
  • Darning needle
  • Crochet hook in size 3.5mm (US E/4) or similar for Provisional Cast-On
