Description

This stylish cropped sweater features a graphic swirling spiral pattern and perfectly puffed sleeves. Knitted top-down seamlessly in the round, the yoke is worked to the underarm where the work divides, and the sleeves are separated from the body. Inspired by the ocean and the current fashion industry, Ocean Surface Sweater is a stunning garment for special occasions and everyday activities alike.

Cumbria is the perfect yarn for this colorwork sweater because of how the fibre compacts and keeps each stitch close to the other, giving the idea of a perfect drawing on knitwear.

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 4–8 hanks of The Fibre Co. Cumbria yarn.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Cumbria (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair; 216 m (236 yd) per 100 g hank) in shades Nutkin (A) – 3 [3: 4: 4: 5: 5: 6: 6: 6] hanks and Eden Valley (B) – 1 [1: 2: 2: 2: 2: 2: 2: 2] hanks.

Construction notes:

This sweater is knitted top-down, seamlessly in the round. The yoke is worked to the underarm where the work is divided and the sleeves are separated from the body. The body is worked and then the sleeves are picked up in the round and knitted top down. The bottoms of the body and sleeves are worked in a two-color stranded colorwork pattern. Short row shaping is incorporated at the shoulders right after the ribbed neckline.
