Description

The Orbital Hat by Maren Odenthal is a fun, fisherman’s style hat, with a folded double brim and a spiralling texture created with simple cables. Needing just one hank of our lofty Lore yarn, this hat makes a perfect gift and is a fantastic way to add a pop of bright, cheerful color to your handmade wardrobe.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Lore (100% lambswool, 250 m (273 yds) per 100 g hank) in shade Happiness – 1 hank.

Construction notes:

This hat is knitted bottom up seamlessly in the round. Starting with a folded-up double brim, the body’s swirling texture gets created with simple cables.

Sizes and measurements:

S [M: L]
To fit head circumference: 46-51 [51-56: 56-61] cm (18-20 [20-22: 22-24] in)

Finished measurements:
Circumference: 45.5 [51.5: 57] cm (18.25 [20.5: 22.75] in)
Height above brim: 18.5 [21: 23.5] cm (7.25 [8.25: 9.25] in)
Brim height: 5 cm (2 in) in all sizes

Recommended ease:

Designed with 0–5.5 cm (0–1.75 in) of negative ease at head circumference.

Gauge:

Cable stitch pattern, worked in the round: 21 sts and 26 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st after blocking using 4 mm (US 6) needles.
