Description

April Gopwani’s Rise and Set Blanket is inspired by the warm tones of the rising and setting sun. The crochet pattern uses a colorwork chart to create the beautiful circular sun motif. The fringing details add movement and additional texture. Take this statement summer throw on a picnic or to the beach, or use it to update to your home décor.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Luma (50% Merino wool, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g hank) in shade Flamingo – 6 hanks and shade Blanca – 4 hanks.

The Fibre Co. Meadow (40% Merino wool, 25% baby llama, 20% silk, 15% linen, 498 m (545 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Buttercup – 2 hanks.

Construction notes:

The Blanket is worked in rows of double crochet, following a Chart for the color changes over the central ‘sun’ portion. Chart is worked from bottom up, and each square represents 1 dc stitch. Read RS rows from right to left, and WS rows from left to right. Change color mid-row in the last yoh of the previous st.

Buttercup (C) is held doubled throughout.

For the lower half of the blanket and yarns A and B, the three-row color repeat means that you will need to fasten off each yarn after the color change. For the upper half, carry the yarn up the side of the work.

Sizes and measurements:

18 cm (46.5 in) long and 80 cm (31.5 in) wide (without fringe)

Gauge:

15 sts and 15 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over sc after blocking using 5mm (US H/8) crochet hook.
