Last autumn, The Fibre Co. released our first round of Foundations designs- simple patterns that called for 1-3 skeins of our yarn. Foundations is a design series for novice knitters ready to expand their skills and those already more advanced who would like to adapt patterns and make them their own.
We like to think of knitters making these patterns and accessing the accompanying tutorials as enthusiasts, keen to develop their techniques and fibre knowledge as they add to their handmade wardrobes. In life, we never stop learning after all.
Introducing Foundations for Canopy Fingering and Luma
Today, we launch 12 simple patterns split evenly between those calling for Canopy Fingering and Luma. Both are versatile yarns that transition well across the seasons and what’s more, we just launched 12 new Luma colourways.
This time, we’re adding crochet as well as knitwear designs, with garments and larger stoles and shawls. You’ll still find smaller yardage projects tucked amongst patterns for garments that will take you on a journey to a capsule wardrobe. Pieces vary from those knit in pieces and seamed for structural integrity and those worked in the one piece, in the round for a more modern, softer feel.
Luma Update – 12 Brand New Shades
Luma is a lofty blend of organic cotton, linen, merino wool and silk. A DK weight yarn that has a depth of texture and colour both in the skein and as a fabric due to being intentionally crafted with subtle texture and colour variances at the mill. We’re rounding out the neutrals and brights that we launched Luma with last spring by injecting softer purples, rose, greens, blues and greys. It means a wider palette that will hopefully deliver all you need for a yarn intended to carry your crafting through most seasons.
Canopy Fingering is a rich mix of alpaca, bamboo and merino that means a soothing drape with a cozy warmth too. The 3 ply of Canopy Fingering provides good stitch definition that means it works well for both colorwork and textured pieces that you will find in our latest releases.
We are looking forward to another year of learning, making with heartfelt passion and as always, learning from you, our enthusiastic community. Find the Foundation patterns for Luma & Canopy Fingering on Ravelry now.
