How to Sl1, K1, psso - left leaning decrease

Wondering how to Sl1, K1, psso? You’ll find this technique used in many knitting patterns to decrease one stitch. Follow these three simple steps to see how each stitch is worked.

S1, K1, psso Tutorial

    1. Slip one stitch, knit wise, to right-hand needle.
    2. Knit the next stitch.
    3. Using the left-hand needle. Pass the slipped stitch over the knitted stitch.

1 stitch has been decreased. Note how it leans to the left.

If you’re a visual learner watch this short video which clearly shows how to decrease a stitch using Sl1, K1, psso. We’ve used The Fibre Co. Tundra yarn and a pair of metal needles.

Are you knitting our Hodgsons Joy or Hovera patterns? You’ll find this single decrease stitch that leans to the left used in both of these popular cardigan knitting patterns. Find these patterns and more in The Fibre Co. pattern shop now.
