Whilst colour is a lot of fun to play around with, selecting colourways for a three-colour shawl can be challenging. Not only do they each need to complement one another, but the tones of the colours need be contrasting enough to pop individually.
If you’re not confident with using colour, it can be helpful to have a colour-minded person select them for you, safe in the knowledge that these colours will bring out the best in your shawl.
Our founder, Daphne, has an amazing eye for colour and has hand-selected ten colour palettes for Melanie Berg’s brand new Abuelito shawl, making them into beautiful kits for you.
Melanie Berg’s Abuelito Kits
Abuelito: a triangular shawl, knitted from the top down, with a rustic lace border and a subtle tuck stitch pattern in three colours of Arranmore Light.
It was inspired by the kind of scarf you might find in your grandfather’s wardrobe and is perfect for those brisk days when you need some warmth around your neck.
Included in the kit are four skeins of our DK weight Arranmore Light yarn: an authentic tweed yarn that blends the best of luxury and tradition. Two skeins are used for the main colour and one used for each of the contrasting colours.
Abuelito Colour Palette Examples
To help you visualise how our Abulelito kits knit up, we have created three gorgeous samples – one in the original colour palette and two alternative colour palettes that we adore.
