A unisex hat to knit for everyone you know, Chapelfield is a classic fitted beanie in a mock-cable and twisted rib pattern. Quick to knit in just one hank of Lore, it is worked in the round and features clever crown shaping to great effect. Wear it pulled over your ears to keep them toasty, or fold up the brim to wear it as a watch cap.

A kit is also available for Chapelfield in Lore Minis.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Lore (100% lambswool from the English Romney sheep breed, 250 m (273 yd) per 100 g hank) – 1 [1: 1] hank. Shown in shades Happiness, Comfort, Heaven, and Gentle.

Construction notes:

The Chapelfield Hat is knitted in the round, from the bottom up, on small circular needles, double-pointed needles, or a long circular needle for Magic Loop.

Sizes and measurements:

S [M: L]
The given sizes are called Sizes S, M, L, and are recommended to fit a head circumference of: 46–51 [51–56: 56–61] cm (18–20 [20–22: 22–24] in)
Circumference: 37 [42: 47] cm (14.5 [16.5: 18.5] in)
Height: 18 [20: 22] cm (7 [7.75: 8.5] in)

Recommended ease:

Designed with 9–14 cm (3.5–5.5 in) of negative ease at head circumference.

Gauge:

28 sts and 31 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over rib pattern after blocking using 4mm (US 6) needles.
21 sts and 31 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st after blocking using 4mm (US 6) needles.
