Description
Echinacea is a relaxed hat design by Karie Westermann that combines a classic gansey motif with a single Tree of Life cable column. Knitted in our warm lofty yarn Lore, it's the perfect project for beginners looking for a small project and includes both charted and written instructions.
This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 1 hank of Lore.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Lore (100% lambswool, 250 m (273 yd) per 100 g hank) in Fair - 1 hank
Construction notes:
This hat is worked in the round from the rib up. It consists of diamond panels that repeat across the hat and frame a tree panel. The diamond panels are worked using easy knit and purl combinations, while the tree panel uses mini cables to construct the branch motif. The ribbing flows organically into the main section of the hat. The crown consists of rapid decreases across the hat. The height of the hat can be modified by knitting more or fewer repeats of the Diamond and Tree Patterns before beginning the crown.
