Description

Mullein is a long rectangular wrap, designed by Amanda Jones, and features a gorgeous array of patterns and geometry. This pattern is also available in two kits.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino wool, 30% masham wool, 10% mohair, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g hank) in Fair Hill (A) – 2 hanks, Windermere (B) – 1 hank and Catbells (C) – 1 hank
OR
The Fibre Co. Amble (70% Easy-wash Merino wool, 20% Easywash alpaca, 10% recycled nylon, 325 m (355 yd) per 100 g hank) in Scafell Pike (A) – 2 hanks, Blackbeck (B) – 1 hank and Helvellyn (C) – 1 hank

Please note: Our Canopy Fingering yarn as seen pictured has now been discontinued.

Construction notes:

This wrap is worked flat and is constructed using four different pattern sections. Section A has a patterned lace motif. Sections B and D are striped and solid short-row sections, and Section C is made up of plain and bead stitch stripes. There is an additional single stripe of bead stitch placed just after the first lace section and before the last lace section, providing symmetry to the piece. After completing the body of the wrap, stitches are picked up along each of the long edges to knit a striped border. The short edges are then finished with fringing.

Sizes and measurements:

One size
Finished measurements: 183 cm (72 in) wide and 27 cm (14.5 in) deep

Gauge:

22 sts and 40 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over lace pattern after blocking using 3.75mm (US 5) needles.
23 sts and 41 rows to 10 cm (4 in) measured over garter stitch after blocking using 3.5mm (US 4) needles.

Our Cumbria Fingering and Amble samples used almost all of colors A and B, with very little leftover. It is even more vitally important to check your gauge before starting to knit your Mullein because you may run out of yarn, or need to buy more if you do not match the stated gauge.
