About Balnaan Hat

Balnaan Hat is a classic striped hat designed by Emily Williams. It is super easy to wear and an instant staple for any handmade wardrobe. What’s more, it is a great way to use up leftover bits of yarn from knitting the Balnaan Pullover.

Balnaan Hat is knit from the ribbed brim, worked using two strands of Luma held together, through the striped section worked with one strand of Luma together with one strand of Cirro, with the shade of Luma changing every eight rows, to the pompom, which perfectly uses up any extra yarn scraps left over.

Balnaan is part of the Better Together collection.

Kit contains:

• PDF of of the Balnaan Hat knitting pattern by Emily Williams
• 1 hank of Col A and 1 hank of Col B in The Fibre Co. Luma (50% Merino wool, 25% organic cotton, 15% linen, 10% silk, 125 m (137 yd) per 50 g hank)
• 1 hank of Col C in The Fibre Co. Cirro (40% Suri alpaca, 40% organic cotton, 20% Merino wool, 225 m (246 yd) per 50 g hank)
• Free Project Bag from The Fibre Co.

Colours:

The photos show the pullover in the Luma shades Aizome and Chambray and Cirro shade Divine. Choose any 2 shades of Luma and 1 shade of Cirro as shown above.

Sizes:

S [M: L]
The given sizes are called S, M L and are recommended to fit a head circumference of: 47.5-50 [52.5-55: 57.5-60] cm (19-20 [21-22: 23-24] in)

Recommended ease:

Designed with 2.5 – 5 cm (1 – 2 in) of negative ease at the brim.

You will also need:

• 4.5mm (US 7) circular needles in 40 cm (16 in) length
• 5mm (US 8) circular needles in 40 cm (16 in) length (or size to obtain gauge)
• 4.5mm (US 7) circular needle or double-pointed needles for
• Working a small circumference in the round
• 1 stitch marker
• Darning needle
• Large pompom maker
