Bowness Pattern

Bowness is a classic raglan sweater knitted top down in the round. The body features a grid-like knit/purl texture whilst the sleeves are in simple stockinette. Our Donegal tweed Arranmore adds gorgeous depth of colour and nubby texture to this wardrobe staple.

YARN:
The Fibre Co. Arranmore (80% merino wool, 10% cashmere, 10% silk, 160 m (175 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Liadan – 4 [5: 5: 6: 6: 7] hanks. Our yardage includes enough for an 8×8” tension swatch.

NEEDLES:
5mm (US 8) 60 or 80 cm (24 or 32 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
5mm (US 8) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round (or size to obtain gauge)
4.5mm (US 7) 60 or 80 cm (24 or 32 in) circular needle
4.5mm (US 7) 40 cm (16 in) circular needle
4.5mm (US 7) circular needle or double-pointed needles for working a small circumference in the round

TENSION/GAUGE:
15 sts and 24 rnds to 10 cm (4 in) measured over st st after blocking using 5mm (US 8) needles.
