Chanson Cowl Kit

Chanson Cowl, designed by Leah Prestamo, is a substantial neck warmer, with lots of comforting stocking stitch fabric set off by a pretty lace stitch pattern. What’s more, it is a great way to use up leftover bits of yarn from knitting a matching Chanson Cardigan.

This pattern is for a tube scarf worked in the round, with the ends grafted together to form a cowl. Length can easily be modified by working more or fewer repeats of the lace section and adding or removing a corresponding number of stockinette stitch rows.

The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g hank) in Scafell Pike – 2 hanks
The Fibre Co.  Cirro (40% Suri alpaca, 40% organic cotton, 20% Merino wool, 225 m (246 yd) per 50g hank) in Seraphic – 2 hanks

Colours:

The photos show the original design in the Cumbria Fingering shade Scafell Pike and Cirro shade Seraphic. Choose one shade of Cumbria Fingering from the first set of colour swatches above titled ‘Select Cumbria Fingering Colour’ and choose one shade of Cirro from the second set of colour swatches above titled ‘Select Cirro Colour’.

Needles and notions required:

• Two 4mm (US 6) 40 cm (16 inch) circular needles or size needed to obtain gauge. (The second needle is necessary for grafting the ends together. If you do not have two, a needle one size smaller will work in a pinch).
• 1 stitch marker
• 2 locking stitch markers
• Waste yarn
• Darning needle
