About Loue

Loue is a beautiful patterned cardigan designed by Meiju K-P that is featured exclusively in her debut book with Laine Publishing, Contrasts – Textured Knitting.

This design features a stitch pattern mixing lace and cables, drop shoulders, a boxy shape and a relaxed collar. “Loue” is a Finnish word meaning a tent-like temporary shelter for outdoor adventurers. The cardigan’s large collar panels have similarities with loue tents, and the inspiration is drawn from there.

Contrasts has 22 patterns, including pullovers, cardigans, scarves and hats in a soft, delicate and feminine style. They have been designed by Meiju to be functional and fit well and are filled with elaborate lace, beautiful cables and carefully finished details that are fun to make. Meiju likes to combine challenging techniques with a pleasant knitting experience and hopes to spark new ideas for beginners and more experienced knitters alike.

Kit contains:

• 5 [5: 6: 7: 8: 9: 10] hanks of The Fibre Co. Cumbria (60% Merino wool, 30% Masham wool, 10% mohair, 216 m (236 yd) per 100 g hank)

Sizes:

XS (S-M, M-L, XL-2XL, 3XL, 4XL, 5XL)

The given sizes are called Sizes XS – 5XL and are recommended to fit a chest circumference of: 70–85 (85–95, 95–110, 110–125, 125–140, 140–155, 155–170) cm (30–34 (34–38, 38–44, 44–50, 50–56, 56–62, 62–68) in)

Finished measurements
Garment chest circumference (front collar partly overlapping): 88 (103, 118, 132, 147, 162, 177) cm (34.5 (40.5, 46.5, 52, 58, 64, 70) in)

Recommended ease:

Designed with 5 – 15 cm (2 – 6 in) of positive ease at chest circumference.

You will also need:

• 4.5mm (US 7) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle (or size to obtain gauge)
• 4mm (US 6) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle for yoke, hem and collar ribbing (or size to obtain gauge)
• 3.5mm (US 4) 80 cm (32 in) circular needle for cuffs (or size to obtain gauge)
• Cable needle
• Stitch markers
• Stitch holders or waste yarn
• Darning needle
