Description
Inspired by rugged cliffs, crashing sea, rough hands and hard work, this cardigan has a classic heritage quality that is markedly feminine, yet rugged. Jetty Cardigan is knitted top down and features gorgeous cable detailing down the front and stockinette stitch for the main body.
Cumbria Fingering was chosen for this project due to its diligent ‘wooliness’ and durability. Made from a lustrous blend of Masham wool, Merino and mohair, this is the perfect project for those looking for something sophisticated and timeless to add to their handmade wardrobe.
This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 4–8 hanks of The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering.
Yarn:
The Fibre Co. Cumbria Fingering (60% Merino wool, 30% masham wool, 10% mohair, 300 m (328 yd) per 100 g hank) in shade Scafell Pike – 4 [5: 5: 6: 6: 7: 7: 8: 8] hanks.
Construction notes:
This cardigan is worked seamlessly from the top down. Neck shaping is achieved using German Short Rows. The shoulders are shaped using the contiguous method, then the sleeve stitches are placed on hold while the body is worked. Sleeves are worked from the top down from held stitches. Buttonholes and button bands are worked concurrently with the sweater body with the ribbed neckband added last from stitches picked up at the neck edge.
