Description

The Milky Way Cowl by Bea Naretto is a deep cone-shaped cowl with I-cord trim and a gradient of rich, jewel tones behind the bright points of the light main color, created with stranded colorwork.

This pattern is also available as a kit, that includes the PDF pattern and 5 hanks of The Fibre Co. Road to China Light.

Yarn:

The Fibre Co. Road to China Light (65% baby alpaca, 15% silk, 10% camel, 10% cashmere, 145 m (159 yd) per 50 g hank) in Mother of Pearl (MC) - 2 hanks, Tanzanite (CC1) - 1 hank, Cobalt (CC2) - 1 hank and Apatite (CC3) - 1 hank.

Construction notes:

The cowl is knitted top-down in the round, consisting of three striped sections, with a transition section in between each color to create a gradient effect. The I-Cord Caston is worked in the main color, while the main body is worked by alternating rounds of the main color and a contrasting color, so only one color is worked per round. Increases of 12 stitches are evenly distributed every given number of rounds, so the bottom opening is wider than the top one. After working the main body, the cowl is finished by using the I-Cord Cast-Off method.
