Description

One Sock is a classic sock pattern that is suitable for absolute beginners to sock knitting. Start by knitting the complimentary One Sock Baby pattern, then graduate to the adult One Sock. Kate Atherley's One Sock Guidebook, that comes with both patterns, will walk you through the process of knitting a sock that fits beautifully and even shows you how to make customisations to the design to truly make it your own.

One Sock
One Sock is a classic top-down sock pattern to fit all feet, designed in our sock yarn Amble. With lots of opportunities to customise the fit and design, this pattern comes with the One Sock Guidebook, a resource that walks makers through the process of knitting beautiful socks that fit, as well as an opportunity to practice your new sock skills with the beginner-friendly One Sock Baby pattern.

One Sock Baby

This pattern is also available in multiple kits that include the PDF pattern and yarn:

Note: If you wish to work a much longer leg, Sizes 8 and 9 will likely need another hank of yarn.

One Sock Baby
The Fibre Co. Cumbria (60% merino wool, 30% masham wool, 10% mohair; 218 m (238 yd) per 100g hank) – 1 hank.
Approx. yardage used 50 [65: 85: 110] m (45 [60: 75: 100] yd per pair)

Construction notes:

If you’ve not made socks before, grab some leftover DK or worsted weight yarn and make the first size of the baby sock. It’s the simplest version of the pattern, a very quick knit, and it teaches you everything you need to know!

The full-size sock pattern uses the same overall process but has a few key differences: more stitches and longer lengths, of course, and a snugger ribbing for improved fit. The heel flap and turn are worked in a reinforcement stitch pattern to help the socks last a long time.
